Bonsai MCP Connector for ChatGPT
The Bonsai MCP Connector lets ChatGPT use the analytics and operational information already available in your authorized Bonsai workspace. Ask for KPI summaries, product and SKU tables, advertising insights, inventory information, and other supported analyses — without giving ChatGPT direct database access.
The connector uses a single secure MCP endpoint for all customers. Your company, agency organization, tenant permissions, and active Bonsai modules determine which information you can access.
- Official MCP endpoint:
https://mcp.bonsaisolutions.it/mcp - Authentication: OAuth
- Access paths: Company or Agency
- Business-data tools: read-only
- Agency tenant switch: changes session context only
- Date format: YYYY-MM-DD
1. Before you connect
You need:
- an active Bonsai account;
- access to the relevant company or agency organization;
- the Bonsai modules and permissions required by the tools you want to use;
- a ChatGPT plan and workspace configuration that supports the required app or MCP capabilities;
- permission from your organization to connect Bonsai to ChatGPT.
Availability can depend on your ChatGPT plan, country, workspace role, administrator settings, and supported surface. Full MCP capabilities are currently intended for ChatGPT web.
2. Connect Bonsai to ChatGPT
Developer Mode (current)
- Open ChatGPT on the web.
- Open Settings.
- Enable Developer mode (may appear under Security and login or under Apps → Advanced settings).
- Open ChatGPT Plugins or Workspace settings → Apps → Create.
- Create a new MCP app or connection.
- Enter a user-facing name such as "Bonsai".
- Use the exact endpoint:
https://mcp.bonsaisolutions.it/mcp - Select OAuth authentication. Do not use an API key.
- Start the connection and complete the Bonsai authorization flow.
- Review the discovered tools and create the connection.
Developer Mode is for private testing and does not make the connector publicly available in the Plugins Directory.
3. Choose the correct login path
Company
Choose Company when you need to connect directly to one Bonsai environment. Select or enter the requested tenant information, continue to the authorized Bonsai login, and complete OAuth. ChatGPT will only be able to use the tools and data available to that authenticated Bonsai user and tenant.
Agency
Choose Agency when you use Bonsai Agency and work with authorized client tenants. Sign in with your Bonsai Agency credentials. ChatGPT can list only the tenants assigned to your organization. Before requesting business data, select an active tenant from that authorized list.
Example: "List my available tenants and set CLIENT_CODE as the active tenant." Replace CLIENT_CODE with a tenant code actually assigned to your agency.
4. Check the account before authorizing
The Bonsai authorization page shows the authenticated email address. Check it before selecting Authorize. If it is not the account you want to use, select "Sign out and change user", choose Company or Agency again, and complete the login with the correct account.
Disconnecting Bonsai inside ChatGPT does not always end an existing Bonsai browser session. Always check the email shown on the authorization page.
5. Use Bonsai in ChatGPT
Start a new conversation and select the Bonsai app from the tools or apps menu for the message that needs current Bonsai data. Depending on the ChatGPT interface, you may also be able to mention the app directly. App selection can apply to a specific message rather than the entire conversation.
6. How to ask
- Use dates in YYYY-MM-DD format.
- Ask for a KPI summary first when you need an overview.
- Ask for products, ASINs, or SKUs when you need row-level details.
- Specify whether the request concerns Vendor, Seller, Advertising, FBA, inventory, or another supported Bonsai area.
- For Agency access, verify or select the active tenant before requesting business data.
- Do not include passwords, tokens, one-time codes, or unnecessary personal information.
- Review important figures in Bonsai before making business decisions.
7. Example prompts
Dates, tenant codes, ASINs and SKUs are examples to replace with real values from your account.
1. Check the status of the Bonsai MCP server. 2. Who am I in this Bonsai session? 3. Which tenants can I access? 4. Summarize Amazon Vendor Standard sales from 2026-08-01 to 2026-08-31. 5. Show the products with the highest shipped revenue for the same period. 6. Summarize Amazon Ads campaign performance from 2026-08-01 to 2026-08-31. 7. Which advertised products generated the most sales? 8. Summarize Buy Box performance for the tracked catalog. 9. Which ASINs should be replenished in FBA? 10. (Agency only) List my available tenants and set CLIENT_CODE as active tenant.
8. Supported Bonsai areas

Capabilities depend on the modules, permissions, marketplaces, and data available in the active Bonsai tenant.
9. Read-only tools and tenant confirmation
Bonsai analytics tools retrieve data and do not modify Vendor, Seller, Advertising, inventory, price, or catalog records.
The Agency tool switch_tenant changes the active tenant context for later requests. It does not edit data in that tenant, but ChatGPT may ask for confirmation because it changes the authorization context of the session.
10. Current limitations
- The connector can access only tenants, modules, and data authorized for the authenticated Bonsai user.
- It does not provide unrestricted database or SQL access.
- It does not let ChatGPT freely choose an arbitrary tenant or server URL.
- It does not modify Vendor, Seller, Advertising, inventory, price, or catalog data.
- Vendor Realtime capabilities are not currently included.
- Data availability and freshness depend on the underlying reports and the active Bonsai tenant.
- Empty results do not always indicate an error; the selected tenant or period may have no data.
- ChatGPT can summarize or interpret tool results, so important figures should be verified in Bonsai.
- Availability on mobile, agent mode, deep research, plans, and workspace configurations is controlled by OpenAI and may change.
11. Troubleshooting
ChatGPT cannot find or connect to Bonsai
- Verify the official endpoint:
https://mcp.bonsaisolutions.it/mcp - Confirm that Developer Mode or the public plugin is available for the account.
- Ask the workspace administrator whether custom apps or plugins are enabled.
- Retry from ChatGPT web.
The wrong Bonsai user appears
- Check the email in the Bonsai authorization page.
- Select "Sign out and change user".
- Choose Company or Agency again.
- Sign in with the correct account.
Results are empty or incomplete
- Verify tenant, date range, marketplace and filters.
- Try a summary request before requesting product rows.
- Check whether the underlying report is available in Bonsai.
12. Disconnect or change account
To stop using Bonsai in ChatGPT, disconnect or disable the Bonsai app from the relevant ChatGPT app or plugin settings. To connect a different Bonsai user, start the authorization flow again and select "Sign out and change user" when the current email is shown.
Disconnecting ChatGPT, signing out from the MCP browser session, signing out from the main Bonsai platform, and requesting OAuth revocation are separate actions. Contact support if you need help revoking access.
13. Privacy and security
The connector uses HTTPS and OAuth authorization. Access is limited by the authenticated Bonsai account, organization, tenant allowlist, modules, and user permissions. Bonsai keeps tool-invocation audit records for operational security and support (retention: 90 days). Passwords, access tokens, refresh tokens, client secrets, cookies, and Authorization headers are excluded or redacted from application audit logs.
